SG Isotech's CEO Mr. Ivan Smajlovic was invited as a speaker to participate in the “2019 International Forum on Food Authenticity Technology and Industry Development and Annual Meeting of National Center of International Research on Food Authenticity Technology”, held in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China.
The main problems presented during this conference were regarding new technologies that could in a better way detect food fraud and counterfeit products. China is especially interested in food fraud problem since they have a very big market and a lot of counterfeit products which are also exported from China. The other perspective is that China is also a big importer of food products especially wine and alcoholic beverages and actually they really don’t know what is the qualities of these products enter into China. Since SG Isotech has cooperation with C.N.R.I.F.F.I. from Beijing, which represents the top government research center and also institute for standardization of PR of China), they are very interested in our technology since with EIM-IRMS concept they could easily detect illegal production practices in wine, honey, fruit juices and also alcoholic beverages and China is the second biggest market for those products in the World.
During the conference in Beijing, there were a lot of discussions concerning SNIF-NMR and NMR-profiling technologies and problems which are connected to these two concepts. It was emphasized that for China it will be very difficult to implement NMR concepts across the territory since they would need at least 35 -40 years to collect NMR data for reference databanks so that they could compare the samples from the market with reference ones. The other problem will be that the Chinese would never get access to European reference databanks for comparison of wine samples coming from Europe.
